Well sports fans,at the risk of putting the cart b4 the horse it looks like I could be back training by weeks end.
Thanks largely to my physical therapist Jenn the tendonitis in my right achilles has been greatly reduced in our twice weekly sessions since July 8th,and at the risk of tooting my horn.....phrasing!!!! since I've made sure to do my own stretches daily i now find myself on the verge of being able to resume training.
Seemingly the acid test was running again, could I do it pain free and at Jenn's instruction I ran a mile on Sunday,my first run since May 22nd and came throught it pain free....achilles wise I was winded as fuck!!!
Using the time honoured "10 % Rule" Jenn wants me to increase my mileage by 10% as not to overload the achilles but judging from Sundays mile it'll be wise to gradually increase my mileage a half mile at a time.
Fingers crossed 1.5 miles tonite followed by 2 miles tomorrow and then what could be my last therapy session Thursday,if all goes to plan a 2.5 miler afterwards b4 tackling 3 and 3.5 over the weekend and so on and so forth next week till I gradually make my way up to 8 miles which will be my distance du jour once I'm fully fit,Rome wasn't built in a day and having sat out the last two months I'm in no hurry to ride the pine again anytime soon.....

Post Cards From The D L
In terms of my rehab despite the best efforts of the receptionist at my rehab I'm now undergoing twice weekly therapy to hopefully clear up my tendonitis,it's early days yet w/ only one visit under my belt but since Mondays initial evaluation I have been doing the strengthning exercises that Jen my therapist has given me,them coupled w/ twice weekly visits will hopefully get me back running anywhere between 4/6-6/8 weeks.
Till then I'll probably keep myself entertained by following the Tennis, next year marks 40 years since I first fell in love w/ the sport.....ok I fell in love w/ Chris Evert but my subsequent love of the game stems from there and as the years have gone by I've followed the sport maybe not religiously but reasonably closely.
A couple of years ago I made my third trip to Flushing Meadows and the US Open and have ordered my tickets for a whole day up there this year.
Asides from the day session on Sunday Sept 1st I've crossed another one off the "bucket list" for years I've watched nite sessions at the US Open and talked about getting nite session tickets....well enough talk this year I have nite session tickets on Arthur Ashe Stadium,I'm excited about finally watching a nite session live, obviously I've no way of knowing who I'll see playing untill the day b4 but if the scheduling gods want to schedule Andy Murray,Laura Robson or Sabine Lisicki I won't be upset!!
